Step-by-step of the Franchisee Approval Process (Canada)

  1. Franchising Questionnaire:

    Begin by filling out a preliminary form with basic details such as your name, contact information, and some questions about your financial qualifications, experience, and background.

  2. Introductory Call:

    If selected to move forward, a representative will contact you at the phone number provided.

  3. Application:

    Complete a full application providing detailed information about your education, employment history, personal and professional references, markets of interest, and in-depth financial information. Each partner, when applicable, will need to complete their own application.

  4. Video Call with Bobby Naicker:

    Upon receipt of your completed application, a video call will be scheduled with Bobby Naicker, Director of Franchise Development. This call will allow us to get to know you better and provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions.

  5. Background Check and Financial Verification:

    A thorough background check, including credit and criminal record checks, along with financial verification will be conducted. You will need to provide documentation proving that you meet the minimum financial qualifications to become a Denny’s franchisee.

  6. FDD and Business Plan:

    You will receive the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) and be required to prepare a business plan. The plan should include the following sections:

    • Executive summary
    • Target audience analysis
    • Demographics and market analysis
    • Logistics and business operations strategies
    • Financial details and projections

  7. Restaurant Observation:

    You will be invited to spend a day observing the management and operations at one of our Denny’s Restaurants. This is your chance to experience the daily operations and assess whether Denny’s is the right fit for you.

  8. Final Interviews:

    Final virtual interviews will be held with our Franchise Business Development Manager and Managing Director to complete the approval process.

  9. Site Selection:

    Once approved, we will connect you with our real estate team to begin the search for a suitable location for your proposed Denny’s franchise.
